Hippity-hoppity its Dekker! Dekker is a handsome male Dutch rabbit Milwaukee Pets Alive rescued from Milwaukee Animal Control (MADACC). He is approximately 1 year old and is cute as a button! His coloring is brown grey with the classic white Dutch blaze and white saddle. Dutch rabbits are known for their cute little round heads and little round bodies - and Dekker has both! Because his breed is Dutch, his foster mom thought he should have a Dutch name and thats how he became Dekker! Dekker probably wasnt given the best care in his young, former life prior to his arrival at MADACC and then into our rescue. His nails and teeth were overgrown, and he was quite shy when we rescued him (which leads us to believe he wasnt given much attention). But Milwaukee Pets Alive and his foster family are giving him all the love and attention this great boy deserves! He has access to hay and chew toys at ALL times, he has been vetted and his nails trimmed, and his foster mom makes him part of the family with petting and love from all the humans (our wish for every rabbit we share our world with)! Now Dekker is a happy, fun-loving, playful bunny ready for a forever home that cherishes him for the wonderful companion he is! Dekker's foster family give him lots of out-of-cage time every day (so important for social small animals, such as rabbits, to be fulfilled and happy). Dekker does have a nice big cage in his home to spend time in (4 feet x 2 feet) but when he is having that all important out-of-cage time, he is either in an exercise pen in his home, or wandering around the house with his harness and leash on. His foster mom watches him very closely (as rabbits like to chew everything!). Dekker lives with some cats who have grown up around small animals (but foster mom still watches them when they are with Dekker) and they like to chase the leash he is dragging. Dekker follows his foster mom from room to room to explore while she is busy doing people things. On nice days, she will take Dekker outside on his harness and leash to enjoy some fresh air, which is great fun! Want to play? One of Dekker's favorite games is to toss a paper towel roll back and forth with you. He also tried out a digging box filled with shredded newspaper (as you can see in his photos). Dekker likes it when foster mom reaches in his cage and he is able to rub on her hand with that classic little round Dutch face and head. Dekker is a lap bunny! -He loves to cuddle in your lap and be pet. His favorite spots are on the soft fur behind his ears, and on the bridge of his nose! Dekker is fine being picked up by adults. Dekker likes his greens and veggies (and likes when you hold his carrot for him so he can munch on it without it rolling away). Dekker is very affectionate and is looking forward to having a forever home where he will be loved, cared for, and be a part of the family! As rabbits are very delicate, Dekker would do best in a home with children ages 10 years or older.
