Everyone is looking for their Prince Charming, arent they? Well look no further, and say hello to Prince Charming the 1 ½ year old domestic short hair that Milwaukee Pets Alive rescued from Milwaukee Animal Control (MADACC)! Prince Charming is a petite cat (unique for male cats which tend to usually be larger than their female counterparts), and reminds his foster family of a little bear cub. He is solid black, including his little black nose, and has a few wisps of white intermingled throughout his very soft coat. The tip of his tail also has a little touch of white in it making it appear almost gray. His tail is thick, and with his petite stature, further makes him look like a little woodland creature. This little guy is cute as a button, but how Prince Charming got his name is because it seemed the most fitting as he is absolutelycharming! He loves to be held and snuggled (when we first rescued Prince Charming and took him to see our vet as we do with all of our newly rescued pets, our vet enjoyed holding him and carrying him throughout the clinic to introduce him to other vet staff to show them how amazingly wonderful and cuddly he is!) He is a lap cat and really loves the attention when someone is petting him. There are even times when hes sitting in your lap that he will reach up and give you a hug by putting his arms around your neck and then will rub your face with his! When we rescued Prince Charming, he had a few abscesses (which are little wounds) on his body, so he had to wear an infant onesie to cover them to allow them to heal. He is so tiny, he had to wear a newborn onesie (it said Super Sweet on it, so it was very fitting!). It did not bother him to wear it (and he looked absolutely adorable in it). His wounds have all healed now so he doesnt wear it anymore (and toward the end of his healing, as he was running around playing, it would get caught on things and he would end up half out of it, giving all his humans a good chuckle!) Upon rescue, we also noticed that Prince Charmings eyes looked different, so we took him to see Dr. Collins at Eye Care for Animals in Pewaukee. We found out that Prince Charmings ocular (eye) changes have been present since birth (congenital) or as we like to say, baby, he was born that way! His left eye is very small (called microphthalmos) and has limited if any useful vision out of that left eye, but still has intact light sensation in it. The vision in his right eye is good. There is a bulge on the surface of the right eye called a staphyloma which simply means that the iris tissue is bulging through the clear window (or cornea). His right eye will always appear this way, but should not worsen. Prince Charmings foster family applies 1 drop of an artificial tear drop to his right eye, twice a day, to keep it lubricated. While Prince Charmings eyes may be a little different, he plays with his toys just like any other cat! He tried out all the toys in his foster home and likes little toy mice, balls to chase, and the cat charmer, too! Speaking of play, Prince Charming loves to play with the resident cats in his foster home, as well as a young female cat that was also being fostered in his foster home before she was adopted. Prince Charming and the female foster cat often were see chasing each other around and wrestling (as they were similar in age)! Prince Charming may not have ever lived with other kitties before, but is doing a good job learning kitty etiquette from the other felines (especially from the older, wiser resident cats) that are showing him the ropes. Very sweetly, Prince Charming is also learning that playmates also make good napping partners after a good play session and can be seen cuddling up next to them. Prince is usually the initiator of the cuddling and wants to be touching the other cats and will contort himself so at least one part of him is touching the others (which we think is precious).
